Martha Tsigkari will explore how disruptive technologies originating outside the traditional boundaries of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry are reshaping its future. She will demonstrate how innovations such as advanced computing, data-driven design, robotics, artificial intelligence and material science are redefining processes and expanding the horizons of what is possible in architecture. By looking beyond the conventional toolbox of the AEC, she will highlight how cross-disciplinary knowledge and emerging technologies are transforming not only the way we design and build, but also the role architecture plays in addressing today’s complex societal and environmental challenges.

Martha Tsigkari is a Partner at Foster + Partners in London, where she leads the Applied Research and Development group. With a background in architecture and advanced computation, she has been instrumental in integrating disruptive technologies into design and construction. Her expertise spans performance-driven design, optimisation algorithms, robotics, artificial intelligence and material research, and she has contributed to some of the practice’s most ambitious international projects. In addition to her professional role, she holds a associate professorship at UCL, The Bartlett School of Architecture, where she teaches and researches at the interface of architecture, engineering and digital innovation.

Beyond her project and academic work, Martha Tsigkari is recognised as a leading voice in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry. She lectures internationally, publishes widely, and advocates for the transformative role of emerging technologies in shaping sustainable, resilient and human-centred environments. Her achievements reflect a consistent commitment to ensuring that technological advances support not only efficiency and performance but also wider societal and cultural goals.
